Avery’s fortune, life, and loves are on the line in the game that everyone will be talking about.
To inherit billions, all Avery Kylie Grambs has to do is survive a few more weeks living in Hawthorne House. The paparazzi are dogging her every step. Financial pressures are building. Danger is a fact of life. And the only thing getting Avery through it all is the Hawthorne brothers. Her life is intertwined with theirs. She knows their secrets and they know her.
But as the clock ticks down to the moment when Avery will become the richest teenager on the planet, trouble arrives in the form of a visitor who needs her help—and whose presence in Hawthorne House could change everything. It soon becomes clear that there is one last puzzle to solve, and Avery and the Hawthorne brothers are drawn into a dangerous game against an unknown and powerful player.
The final gambit is the conclusion to the original trilogy, the inheritance games written by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. Avery has spent nearly a year living at the Hawthorne house. Once the year anniversary arrives she will inherit a massive fortune. But till that moment comes danger is still finding its way to Avery and she has one final game to play.
this book was really good, I was trying to delay myself from reading this book. but now I have ordered the brothers hawthorne. I knew it was time to read this book before that one arrived. I feel like I am still a little bit confused with the family tree. There are just so many people to follow. but I did like the brothers more in this book than in the first two. We have one final mystery, and that mystery was so interesting and good. There will be no spoilers in this review. So the only thing I can say is that the stakes are very high, a lot of tension throughout the book and a very crazy ending that in my opinion was very original. I have not seen that before in other books.
I feel like Avery has grown so much during the trilogy she is a very strong and smart woman. She knows what she is doing and after almost a year at the hawthorne house she knows how to play the hawthorne games. Besides Avery we do have some new characters, one of them is Eve. and we have heard of her in the last book, but now she has a bigger role in this book. She is a character that is very unpredictable. and causes some drama in the hawthorne house. I did talk about the brothers for a second but I like to dive into the romance a little bit more. I get the hype off this book with this love triangle happening and I think it’s well written but for me I was so not interested in it. I didn’t really care who she would end up with. I just loved to read about Avery.
“I love you. I would die to protect you. I would make you hate me to keep you safe because damn it, Avery—some things are too precious to gamble.”
At the end I was very satisfied and glad that I finished the original trilogy. yes there are more books in the series and I will read them but what was the original trilogy I was done with that. and soon I will make a blog post of me talking about the series all together.
